Have you heard that the more one practices a skill the better she becomes at mastering it? MAGIC is an acronym I give to a set of skills and practices that help to overcome negativity biases and shift one's mindset to embrace more positivity. MAGIC is based in science and includes practices in mindfulness, gratitude, compassion, and more. The more we practice these skills, the more we recognize the positivity that is currently in our lives and the more joy we cultivate. 

 

However, most of us battle inertia, that invisible force that keeps us standing still when we know we wish to make a change. The first secret to triumphing over inertia is to be in community. Connection is the bedrock of MAGIC. This 14 day course is designed to encourage the sharing of thoughts, dreams, and experiences. Together, we can move past what is difficult and build genuine, caring connection.

Collective Power

With MAGIC, I’ll provide & explain tools based in science that help shift our mindset to the positive. Best of all, you'll be able to participate in the comfort of your own home or wherever you chose. This online group program provides a safe & encouraging space to learn & practice these tools. There’s also a certain amount of accountability inherent in being a group program that motivates us to practice.

DESIGN

MAGIC involves three one-hour group conference call sessions that you can join live or listen to at your convenience. The group sessions will include information and guidance on the tools that we’re using and skills we're practicing, as well as opportunities for group coaching. In-between the group sessions, you'll practice the tools & skills daily. As part of the program, you receive a guided body-scan meditation and a gratitude journal to guide you through the two weeks of individual practice. There will also be a private Facebook group where we will connect and share our experiences and journey.

I'll be practicing all of these skills and tools, too, and look forward to sharing this experience with you. All of the tools I'm presenting have been applied to my life. They have helped me manage stress, be more present, and be more joyful overall  in my life, both personally and professionally as a physician and life coach. I'm excited to develop a formal practice with other like-minded people, as I am  entering my own transition to becoming a mother. I have two personal goals with designing MAGIC to Conjure Joy and Resiliency. First, these tools work and I'd like to share them with others who want to practice them and bring more joy and positivity into the world. Secondly, I want to cultivate greater peace of mind as I enter into this wild unpredictable world of labor and motherhood.
